What to wear to a wedding: not just for women!
So far, we've talked about how to dress for weddings from a female perspective, but that's only half the story. Men often have just as tough an outfit conundrum when it comes to weddings.
Men should consider dressing in formal attire such as suits and ties or at least matching slacks with either a jacket or sweater vest over their shirts. For the most formal of weddings, dark suits with black ties for men would be appropriate.
Wearing a suit to a wedding is always good advice even though it may seem kind of boring especially if you are invited to more casual weddings all the time. However, what you wear under your suit really makes all the difference in terms of how dressed up your look and feel! For example, wearing a collared shirt (usually) underneath your suit jacket will give the outfit some color and a bit more life!
Generally, if you're male and attending without a female partner, your outfit should be on the smarter side. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed, so err on the side of caution and opt for something that's dressed up!
What Not to Wear
As a guest to someone's wedding, it is important to be mindful about what you wear. You might feel tempted to wear that cute dress or shoes that are just sitting in your closet for no reason, but this can have the opposite effect of making you stand out too much. Instead, think about wearing something more subdued and less attention-grabbing so as not to upstage the bride or groom on their special day!
